Australia: ABB Grains receival site closures
Leading Australian agribusiness ABB Grain announced on October 5th it is advising growers that its Paskeville and Bute receival sites will not be opening this harvest due to poor seasonal projections.
The decision not to open these sites follows consultation between ABB Grain and local growers about forecasted low grain yields for the region.
All grain receivals will instead be taken at ABBs Wallaroo terminal and nearby Snowtown strategic site. This is consistent with ABBs ABC site classification strategy, which is designed to get maximum usage out of efficient sites, based on seasonal conditions.
ABBs business centre manager for Wallaroo, Steve Dean, said the decision to close Paskeville and Bute was a direct result of the pending poor season and instead would result in increased efficiencies at Wallaroo and Snowtown.
Reducing the storage and handling operation at Parkerville and Bute this harvest will ensure Wallaroo and Snowtown operate as efficiently and effectively as possible, Steve said. Growers will be able to direct their grain to Wallaroo or Snowtown and are assured the sites will operate as resourcefully as possible considering the below-average season conditions.
ABB is currently reviewing other sites across the state and will actively communicate with growers when decisions have been made in regards to the closure of other country sites.
